The weather is improving from Wednesday in Syros, but we should not overdo it during scouting

The weather is improving from next Wednesday 7.9.2016 in the Aegean, but this should not be a reason to forget about safety, adequate surface time between dives, good rest and optimum hydration during the diving sessions as the waters are clear and warm and may lead to miscalculations of dive time and depth.

If you feel that things are not normal with your body, you should abandon diving, take shelter off sea and hydrate as well as you can. If symptoms persist, please contact Mr. Alexandros Limnaios, Orthopedic at Syros General Hospital and fellow spearo at +306944441177. He will guide you through the motions of visiting the local hospital and getting the proper help. A decompression chamber treatment is not always the best for any condition you may be in. Decompression treatment may only be applied after thorough medical examinations. The Athens Naval Hospital team is duly notified about the WC in Syros and as soon as contacted by the local doctor, (unless the symptoms are evident) they will demand the examinations necessary to conclude whether you may need to be transported to the DC chamber or not. A mere demand to be instantly transported by helicopter will not suffice for this to occur. Let the doctors in the Syros General hospital follow the instructions of the hyperbaric team of the Athens Naval Hospital and be certain that they will initiate procedure for you to fly to Athens as soon as it is safe and necessary for you to be transported and treated there. The organisation has had extensive discussions with the Athens Naval Hospital hyperbaric team and has made certain that everybody there is extremely sensitive about the fact that a Spearfishing WC is taking place in Syros in 12 days, possibly at a high operational depth. But this does not mean that procedures can or will be neglected...
